The West Port Hotel in Linlithgow has just had £450k of TLC

To Linlithgow, where the West Port Hotel has re-launched following a £450,000 refurbishment. Run by Maclay Inns, the long standing venue has been completely transformed.

Major structural changes included stripping the building back to basics, knocking down and rebuilding the bar in a different position plus knocking down the wall that previously separated the bar from the West Port cottage to create a dedicated restaurant area.

Country inn

The new look West Port has a modern country inn feel. Cosy booths opposite the new bar offer ample seating while the new restaurant area is as suitable for a romantic dinner as it is for a family celebration.

Hearty old faves

The West Port’s new food and drink offering features freshly prepared contemporary dishes, light bites, sharing platters and a host of hearty old favourites too.

Dishes on the new menu include slow-cooked pulled pork with BBQ sauce, hand cut potato skins and apple fritters; teriyaki chicken breast with wilted greens and fresh coriander rice plus sharing platters such as the mixed seafood platter with crayfish, smoked salmon, mussels, hot smoked mackerel, tartare, lime mayo, capers and wholemeal bread.

Smoked haddock kedgeree

As well as a kids’ menu and breakfast menu, the West Port has char grilled steaks; a short fish selection including kedgeree and baked spuds loaded with haggis, pulled pork and, of course, that well known  gastronomic powerhouse: cheese and beans.

The staff at Maclay Inns have been busy of late. News of the West Port’s refurb comes hot on the heels of their recent launch of The Hope.
