Scotland Food and Drink have produced this clip of some of Scotland’s best known chefs and restaurateurs saying what Scotland’s larder means to them.

Tomorrow is St Andrew’s Day and, if you are anything like the 5pm Dining blog, then you will be sure that any form of celebration should be accompanied by fab food and drink.

As the name suggests, both are on offer at the St Andrews Food and Drink Festival which culminates this weekend in the picturesque seaside town.

Tastings and demos

The full line-up of tastings, demos and master classes can be found here. We liked the sound of the St Andrews Food and Drink Festival Dinner which takes place at Fairmont St Andrews tonight.

Chefs from the Fairmont St Andrews, the Old Course Hotel, Golf Resort and Spa, Rufflets Country House Hotel, St Andrews Links and Fife College will be cooking up a feast of local food.

Meet producers

Guests will have a chance to meet producers; celebrate the resurgence in Scottish beers and gins and eat a fantastic meal designed and produced by some of the country’s best chefs.

The meal will include short talks by some of the producers who have supported the event and guests will be able to see live filming of the dishes being prepared on the evening.

There is more info and tickets from here.

5pm in St Andrews

If the festival meal doesn’t work for you then 5pm Dining has been signing up lots of pretty special new member restaurants in St Andrews of late. You can browse their menus and book a table from here.

Incidentally, top marks to The Courier sub editor who came up with the headline ‘Chariots of friers get St Andrews Food and Drink Festival up and running’.
