beer and whisky matching

The 5pm Dining blog has heard a lot of plumb loco ideas in its time but, every now and then, we come across one so breathtaking in its audacity that it blows us away.

This Thursday, the good people of Innis & Gunn are pairing up with the equally good people of Auchentoshan for a beer and whisky matching event.

We know, we know… it sounds mad but, somehow, they might just pull it off.

If you fancy taking part in this daring experiment (and we do) then tickets are £20 a head and the evening starts at 7pm. The event is held in Innis & Gunn’s very swish new HQ on Randolph Crescent.

Tickets can be bought from here.

Beer facts

Hosting the evening are Graeme Dunnet of Auchentoshan and Rachel Sutherland of Innis & Gunn. The blog met Rachel a few weeks back and she is a treasure house of beer facts.

Guests will enjoy four of Auchentoshan’s single malt whiskies and four of Innis & Gunn’s cask-aged beers. The beers and whiskies will be complemented by some little tasting plates from the brewer’s head chef.

Bourbon stout

The beer, whisky and food pairings will be as follows:
