Rocca at the Macdonald Rusacks Hotel in St Andrews

Having been very successful with first the Rocpool Reserve Hotel in Inverness and, more recently, with Rocca in St Andrews, Adrian and Susan Pieraccini have expanded in to Edinburgh with a new restaurant: Rocca@Holyrood. Part of the Macdonald Holyrood Hotel, the new Rocca offers Scottish food with an Italian twist.

Open all day, the brasserie style restaurant hopes to attract politicos from the nearby Scottish Parliament as well as journalists, tourists and, of course hotel guests. The new restaurant launched after a reported £500,000 investment.

Atlantic cod & Swiss chard

Typical dishes include starters such as the seared scallops with black pudding and minted peas or the heritage beetroot with soft goat’s cheese and a basil dressing. On the a la carte, main courses include hand-rolled pasta with a beef and Barolo ragu; Atlantic cod with Swiss chard and caper butter plus the chicken saltimbocca.

Susan Pieraccini, co-owner of Rocca Bar & Grill and Rocca@Holyrood, commented: ‘We are really excited about bringing our award-winning concept to Edinburgh. Whether for a business lunch, networking event or intimate evening dinner, Rocca@Holyrood will offer simple dishes that burst with flavour and use the finest freshest produce.

‘We’ll offer great value all-day dining from breakfast to brunch and through to evening dining and have designed a contemporary flexible space to give business networking meetings the privacy they need. Plus our opening two-course lunch offer starts at £10.95 per person.’

3 AA Rosettes

The Pieraccinis have previous form with Macdonald Hotels. The couple’s Rocca restaurant is in the Macdonald Rusacks Hotel at St Andrews and it holds three AA Rosettes.
