Burgers, dogs and tongue-in-cheek dish names are all the rage at Little Urban Achievers Club

New restaurants are added to the 5pm fold all the time and this week is no different. Recent arrivals include Ashiana in Dalkeith and the Little Urban Achievers Club on Glasgow’s Great Western Road.

With an official launch taking place last December, Ashiana has taken over the premises formerly occupied by Shanti on Eskbank Road. Bangladeshi and Indian cooking is the focus here.

Spicy tickle

Sundays to Thursday, the Ashiana runs a tapas menu in conjunction with the a la carte – handy if you want to give the taste buds a spicy tickle but don’t fancy the full bhoona. Of course, Ashiana offers madras, vindaloo and korma curries. More experienced curry hounds might want to venture a little further off the beaten track.

Among the house speciality section are the murgh malai kebab and the shaktora gosht. The first of these is made with cubes of tandoor-roasted chicken flavoured with cheese, cashews, yoghurt and spices while the shaktora features lamb cooked with the rind of a Bangladeshi citric fruit.

£12 per person for a starter, main course and ice cream from the a la carte menu. Includes a naan or rice. Booking Conditions: The offer excludes king prawn, biryani and tandoori dishes.

Their current 5pm dining sale is a cracker: £12 per person for a starter, main course and ice cream from the a la carte menu. Includes a naan or rice. The offer excludes king prawn, biryani and tandoori dishes.

Laidback from Lebowski

Moving to Glasgow, the Little Urban Achievers Club has been up and running a little longer. The latest venture from the people behind the Lebowski bars, it takes a laidback approach to naming its pizza and gourmet hot dog dishes.

You can check out the full menu here but choices include the Pikey Dag, the Corn-holio and, of course, the Back, Crack and Sack.

LUAC are currently offering a free glass of wine with any main course for 5pm bookers.
