Mogwai whisky: best drunk while listening to Happy Songs for Happy People?

Like rock? Love whisky? If you shouted ‘Hell! Yeah!’ to both questions, while making horn signs with your fingers, then you will probably go total fruit loop for RockAct81w.

The 57.1%ABV single cask whisky has just been released to celebrate the launch of Mogwai’s new album, Rave Tapes.

A limited release of just 324 bottles, RockAct81w was distilled in September 2004 at Glenallachie Distillery, Speyside, and bottled this month by the Creative Whisky Company.

Ahead of Mogwai’s show at the Glasgow Concert Hall on 28 January, the band will be at the Good Spirits Co, 23 Bath Street, to sign bottles of the whisky. The whisky costs £55 a bottle.

Dinearound deals

The Mogwai gig is part of Celtic Connections and if you are looking for a bite to eat before any of the CC shows, you might want to check out the Dinearound deals which 5pm and the Glasgow Restaurant Association are running in conjunction with the music festival.

There are lots of great restaurants to choose from and they are all offering special menus with two courses at £15.95.

This scribbler likes the look of Barolo Grill’s Dinearound menu which, along with lots of other choices, offers a starter of traditional Piemontaise pasta and borlotti bean soup followed by a main course of pan-fried sea bream with herb crushed potatoes, spiced broccoli and Hollandaise sauce.
