Valentine’s Day is almost upon us. With this in mind, here in the 5pm office we’ve been discussing our dream celebrity dates and what restaurant we would take them on Friday if the chance presented itself. As you can see there are a few, err, unconventional choices. A worrying amount of thought seems to have gone into this…

Nicolas-Cage-9234498-1-402Nicolas Cage (As chosen by our Beauty Blogger Merle Brown)

“Always and forever, my dream Valentine’s date has been and will be Nicolas Cage. I even went as far as making my family drive to his house in Bel Air on a trip to LA. He wasn’t in… I’d take him to Peacock Alley at the Waldorf Astoria and we’d have afternoon tea – he’s a fan of all things British, living part of the year in England – and then we’d move on to champagne, get very drunk, and get on brilliantly, of course.”

£37 per person for the Valentines afternoon tea at Peacock Alley – Waldorf Astoria, including a glass of Perrier Jouet Blason Rose. Usual price £44.

2010 Tribeca Film Festival: 'Metropia' PremiereJuliette Lewis (As chosen by our Food Blogger Jonathan Trew)

“After numerous unreturned phone calls, unanswered emails to her publicist and one restraining order, Angelina and I are definitely off. So hello Juliette Lewis. As a straight-talking rock chick, I’m going to assume that La Lewis ain’t interested in fancy pants linen napkins, jus or foams. A booth at Glasgow’s Meat Bar followed by a gig at King Tut’s would probably be ideal. Although, now I think about it, Juliette may be veggie. I may need to give this more thought…”

£6.50 for a home smoked street bun from the express lunch menu at Meat Bar.

Sean Bean (As chosen by our Marketing Executive Maureen McKendry)

My choice for Valentine’s Day would be Sean Bean. I don’t care if he’s been married and divorced a zillion times, this is my dream date so let’s suspend disbelief for one night. Sean is a gruff no nonsense Yorkshire man so I would take him to Griffin Bar which has British grub on the menu like bangers and mash and beef and Guinness stew, as well as Glasgow salad (chips).

“My dream date would be Scarlett Johansson, When she filmed Under The Skin in Glasgow she spent a lot of time in the West End so I think she would really like Epicures in Hyndland.
