Chef Neil Forbes will be matching food to Innis and Gunn beers

The 5pm Dining blog recently learned of an interesting new project which aims to help young professionals get the most out of Edinburgh.

Your New Crew is the brainchild of young Scottish entrepreneur Gemma Pirnie. Launched specifically to help introduce Edinburgh’s best kept secrets to those new to Scotland’s capital, Your New Crew hopes to remove the hassle and isolation often associated with relocating and making a new circle of friends.

Of course, the service is also open to the city’s existing young professionals and graduates who perhaps want to get out and explore new places and meet new people in 2014.

Beer and food matching

Your New Crew’s first event is a night of beer and food matching which takes place at Cafe St Honoré on Thursday. Chef Neil Forbes will be matching specially created dishes to a range of beers from the Edinburgh brewers Innis and Gunn. Innis & Gunn’s quality and sensory manager will also be on hand to lead guests through the tasting experience, showing them what to look for when sampling ale.

Neil said, ‘I’m a big fan of Innis and Gunn beers and we’ve worked to create a special menu that compliments the unique flavourings perfectly. This tasting session offers attendees an insight into the less well known side of Edinburgh.’

According to Your New Crew founder, Gemma Pirnie: ‘We are thrilled to be starting 2014’s event calendar at Café St Honoré with Innis and Gunn and look forward to toasting some new faces with a glass of ale.

Unique events

‘Relocating and getting to know a new city can be overwhelming, it can take years before you finally feel at home. Your New Crew takes the stress and uncertainty out of this, leaving our members free to enjoy themselves at our unique events.

‘With an ever increasing digital social presence, it is easy for people to get caught up with their online lives and forget that they have a whole city to explore. Through our varied events calendar we look to combine one off event experiences with great and quirky venues that are slightly off the beaten track.’

The event takes place on Thursday 6th February 2014 from 6.30pm-8.30pm and tickets cost £10 per person. Numbers for the event at Cafe St Honoré are limited so please book to avoid disappointment. Bookings can be made at http://www.yournewcrew.com/user/register

For a limited time only Your New Crew events are open to everyone, guests can attend events without committing to any membership fees.
