TriBeCa is on the mooo -ve. Sorry.

The team at TriBeCa Cafe have been busy of late. The American-themed diner first opened for business on Dumbarton Road way back in 2003.

Famous for their all day breakfasts, five egg omelettes and half pound burgers, they have built a steady clientele over the last decade or so.

Southside opening

Recently, they have had another bite at the (big) apple and opened a second branch on Fenwick Road in Giffnock.

TriBeCa Restaurant only started welcoming customers on March the 3rd but that hasn’t stopped the team from lining up another fledgling TriBeCa.

City centre branch

TriBeCa Metro is currently being pulled together on Ingram Street in the Merchant City. The new sudden burst of activity has been triggered by new owner Amanda James.

Expect to see a lot more of the TriBeCa group’s trademark NYPD cruiser and yellow cab as the business expands around Glasgow.

Just for fun, the 5pm Dining blog looked up a few Scottish bars and restaurants in NYC to see what they were serving their customers.

Serving bangers ‘n’ mash; haggis, neeps ‘n’ tatties plus Scotch eggs (actually invented by either an English or Indian chef), they seem to have it more or less right at Highlands on 150 West 10th Street.

Less convincing, although rather enticing, is the menu at the St Andrews Restaurant at 140 West 46th Street.

We’re down with the cock-a-leekie soup and the haggis but we can’t remember the last time we saw Gulf shrimp and sea scallops or Maryland crab cakes on a Scottish menu.
