As the 5pm Dining blog noted waaaay back in January, there’s a new bar been prowling around Glasgow’s Bath Street for a few weeks just looking for the right moment to open.

With the full moon rising this weekend, this seems like a very appropriate time for The Howlin’ Wolf to put in its debut appearance.

Wolf eats monkey

Throwing open its doors to the public this evening, The Howlin’ Wolf has replaced the former Monkey Bar on Bath Street.

Run by the team behind Slouch and Maggie May’s, music will be a big attraction at the new venue. Blues, soul, rock ‘n’ roll and loads of live bands are planned.

Old school musical icons

Naturally for a bar named after a blues singer, old school (skool?) musical icons will line the walls and the cocktail list will play tribute to some of the all time musical greats.

Menu details are a little sketchy at the moment but, according to our chums at STV, burgers and pizzas are likely to make an appearance.

If you fancy seeing The Howlin’ Wolf strut its stuff on opening night then it is open to everybody from 9pm this evening.

Drinks, bites and rocking tunes are promised.
