Chilli Champ

Reckon you cook a mean chilli? Well, you can test it against the best this Sunday (4th May) when Glasgow’s Ad Lib on Ingram Street in the Merchant city holds its annual Chilli Con Carnival.

Following on from the success of last year’s contest, the race is on again to find Glasgow’s Chilli Champ. Competitors are invited to bring down a 250g portion of their own chilli which will be sampled by a panel of top tasters including Dougie Bell of Lupe Pintos alongside John Quigley of Red Onion; James Lee of James vs. Burger and Matt Lowe, the twisted genius behind Mega Death Sauce.

The winning recipe will be sold in both Ad Lib venues and will be featured on the well loved Ad Lib specials board. The winner will also be invited to return to Ad Lib with a £100 voucher to spend with friends.

The day will be fun packed and suitable for all the family with piñatas for the kids, Mexican music, delicious Ad Lib Chilli portions and Margaritas for just £3.

‘Arriba!’ as they say down Monterrey.

The rules

These are the rules of entry:

Entrants must bring 250g of chilli to enter and it must have been made by the entrant’s own fair hands – no trying to pass off Markies’ chilli as your own.

Time allocations will be given prior to the day.

Judging will take place 1pm-3pm.

Only one entry per person.

Chilli must have been freshly cooked no longer than 24 hours prior to judging.

For further information or to enter go to the Ad Lib FB page, website or call at the Ingram Street branch.
