The decor at Clouds and Soil promises to be different.

Neither a foodstuff, person’s name or address, Clouds and Soil is the sort of enigmatic bar or restaurant name guaranteed to excite interest.

Although the title may sound like the latest David Mitchell novel, it’s actually the moniker of a new cocktail bar, gastropub and British restaurant with rooms currently taking shape by the top of Edinburgh’s Broughton Street.

The brainchild of the same people that run Bond no 9 in Leith, Clouds and Soil will be housed in the five storey townhouse at 4 Picardy Place.

The chef will be Scott Brodowski, who is currently head chef at Bond No 9 where he is knocking out dishes like the sea bream with braised lemon fennel, lightly spiced quinoa and Teriyaki sauce.

The plan is for the new venture to launch on Friday 16th May.
