Charcoal-burning Josper ovens give a smoky flavour.

Blackwood’s Bar and Grill in Edinburgh’s Nira Caledonia hotel is re-launching its Sunday roast lunch. For £25 a couple, guests can tuck into the best British sirloin beef with Yorkshires and all the trimmings. The Sunday roast will run alongside the restaurant’s recently updated a la carte menu.

Many of the dishes at Blackwood’s Bar and Grill are cooked in their rather swish, charcoal-fuelled Josper oven. We talked to head chef David Scott about this nifty bit of kit a couple of weeks back. You can read all about it here.

Incidentally, the hotel has just upgraded their rooms and they look very fantoosh.

Chop Chop in Glasgow

Edinburgh’s first Chop Chop restaurant rocketed to national fame when it appeared on Gordon Ramsay’s F Word.

Having expanded to two Edinburgh branches, the firm is now on the march to Glasgow. The 5pm Dining blog understands that the new West Coast Chop Chop is scheduled to open on Mitchell Street in September.
