Dishes from the Big Apple are the order of the day at the NY American Grill.

There are new launches galore in Glasgow at the moment.

We understand that Ox and Finch on Sauchiehall Street had a soft launch last night prior to opening to the general public in the coming weeks.

This week will also see the opening of the NY American Grill in Princes Square. The American-themed restaurant on the top floor of the centre will open to the public on Friday.

Smoky flavour

Taking pride of place in the kitchen is a charcoal-fuelled Josper oven which gives food a distinct smoky flavour. The restaurant’s owner is Alan Dexter who also has Barca Tapas & Cava Bar and Cranachan, in Princes Square.

‘American NY Grill is far removed from the typical burger bars you can find in any city across the world,’ he says. ‘We have spent time carefully designing a wide-ranging menu representing the real America; from the comfort food of the Deep South to classic east coast cuisine. Add that to the distinctive flame-grilled flavour from the Josper Grill, and we hope to have developed a winning formula.’

Clam chowder

The extensive menu includes old favourites such as the New York Strip Sirloin steak, clam chowder and jambalaya as well as renowned American deserts including Florida Key Lime Pie and New York Cheesecake.

American NY Grill will showcase a large collection of American craft beers, bourbons and rye whiskey from every corner of the United States. There is also a varied wine list featuring a Canadian sparkling ice wine.
