Simply Whisky like to look smart when dramming it up.

Over the last month, Arisaig Scottish restaurant in Glasgow’s Merchant Square has been toasting Homecoming Whisky Month with a series of rather special whisky dinners.

At the first event, Ewan Henderson, founder of Scotch Broth Events, matched malt whisky with different foods on a molecular level.

Then, on the weekend that World Whisky Day took place, the Whisky Comedian Alan Anderson tickled ribs with gags while delighting taste buds with top drams.

Theatrical whisky dinner

This coming Friday, the Simply Whisky company will bring the program of whisky dinners to a suitably theatrical close as they guide diners through the many stories behind Scotch whisky.

Over a four course gourmet dinner, passionate whisky experts Simon W Roser and Franchi T Ferla will be putting the drama into dramming.

The duo has devised an entertaining evening that examines the subtle blend of stories, circumstances, provenance and skilled craftsmanship that makes whisky such a compelling spirit.

With the help of several drams, Simply Whisky will demonstrate how circumstances can affect the way we taste whisky and also how the different Scottish landscapes produce different styles of whisky.

Islay transportation device

As well as fantastic, locally sourced dishes, diners can look forward to true stories, tall tales, toasts and even a spin in the Islay Transportation Device.

There will also be two kinds of poetry in evidence – the spoken word type and, of course, the liquid variety.

‘Simply Whisky focus on the pure enjoyment of whisky, its history and lore,’ says Simon, ‘all the while extolling the virtues to mind, body and soul that we all know it endows.’

Our chums over at the STV Glasgow city app have done an in-depth interview with Simon which you can read here.

The event takes place on Friday 30th May. The evening starts at 7pm for 7.30pm. Tickets are £55 per person and include a four course dinner and whiskies.
