Marc Gardner, GM of Loch Fyne Hotel & Spa

Loch Fyne Hotel & Spa is situated on one of Argyll’s most stunning beauty spots and has proven to be a popular destination for 5pmers.

We spoke to Marc Gardner, General Manager of Loch Fyne Hotel & Spa who said its stunning location is one of the key reasons the hotel is so popular.

“We have a fantastic location, right beside the loch. We are just outside of Glasgow – an hours drive outside of Glasgow, which is great as well. It is far enough out of the city so that you’re getting a break, but not too far to travel to.”

The hotel prides itself on fantastic service, a relaxed atmostphere and top quality dining.

“Our team are very friendly but professional and we provide a very relaxed, but professional atmosphere.”

Quality, local ingredients

Locally produced ingredients are shown at their best by the skilled team in the kitchen, menus change regularly but typical sample dishes might be a taster of smoked duck and berry compote followed by pressed belly of pork, apple jelly and walnut salad and then a baked whole trout, served with braised fennel and caper cream.

Loch Fyne Hotel dining

The food is complemented by an extensive wine list; many malt whiskies and a great selection of brews from Loch Fyne Ales, Marc continues:

“People come here for good food, a great selection of wine and to relax and that is what makes us hopefully what we are.

“Some of the dishes on our menus include lobsters, crayfish, duck, chicken, sea bass and then we have homemade desserts as well, there’s a good mix of dishes. We try and use local produce as much as we can, it’s very important to us here at the hotel.

“Obviously, we have Loch Fyne on our doorstop. All our meat is British meat and 80-90% of our fish is caught in Scottish waters and it shows in the quality of the food we serve, it really does.”
