Forget Ashton Lane, Ruthven Lane is the West End’s most bohemian hangout. The quirky cobbled lane, easily missed between Oxfam and Subway, is home to a number of antique vintage and charity shops as well as a smattering of restaurants – including The Bothy.

The Bothy is a true West End hidden gem. Tucked away at the right hand side of Ruthven Lane, a visit to the restaurant is like being included in a well kept secret.

The recently updated a la carte menu is packed with Scottish dishes too, with produce sourced from local providers. Favourites are the pan-seared Perthshire venison, the oven-roasted rump of Ayrshire lamb and the veggie haggis and clapshot filo.

The bar boasts an extensive malt menu and customers have the option of learning more about whisky at the whisky tasting evenings, hosted by Johnny “The Caledonian Cowboy” Gould.

The Bothy also regularly hosts live music from local musicians.
