A burger and beer at La Bonne Auberge should make football fans smile. Even if they have picked complete duffers in their office sweepstake.

The 5pm Dining blog has pulled Iran and Australia in the office World Cup sweepstake.

So it looks like I may have to rethink my summer holiday plans to buy Necker Island off Richard Branson and make do with my usual overnight in Auchtermuchty.

Fortunately, there are more certain ways of scoring during the World Cup. No, not like that.

La Bonne Auberge brasserie at Holiday Inn Glasgow is offering football fans a burger and a pint for only £13.50 throughout the duration of the competition.

The brasserie will be screening matches in its bar throughout the duration of the 2014 Fifa World Cup.

Alan Taylor, general manager at La Bonne Auberge, said: ‘It may be a few years since Scotland competed in the World Cup, but Glasgow remains passionate about the beautiful game – and we’re delighted to welcome footie fans with this special offer whilst they catch matches screened live in our bar.’
