Babu Kitchen have some punchy spices in their arsenal.

There will be a cracking culinary punch-up in Glasgow’s Southside this weekend.

At The Glad Cafe in Shawlands, the Southside Street Food Showdown will see a heated cook-off between Babu Bombay Street Kitchen, representing India, and Fire In Babylon, who will be flying the culinary flag for the West Indies.

Billed as the ‘second unofficial meeting of Commonwealth Nations in 2014’, two of Scotland’s leading street food exponents will go head to head.

Dead heat

The first battle, held in January, was declared a dead heat and both sides are keen to finish this thing for once and for all.

There are two sittings tonight and tomorrow and one on Sunday evening.

After all food is consumed, diners get to vote for their favourite dish, with the winning team being announced at the end of each sitting.
