Bring me sunshine at the Terrace at One Square.

The 5pm Dining blog is reeling somewhat with the realisation that we seem to have had two perfectly decent summers in a row.

The last time we saw so much sun it was on a wildlife documentary.

Obviously, there have been drawbacks. The main one being that we have almost worn out our favourite safari suit.

Fortunately, there is news just in to distract us from this calamity.

Regular blog readers will know that we had a fantabulous morning at One Square recently and we blogged all about it here.

The restaurant and bar on Festival Square has just added a new string to its bow by relaunching its summer terrace.

As well as some rather snazz new furniture, the Terrace has introduced both a barbeque and started serving Moët & Chandon Ice Impérial.

Billed as the first-ever Champagne to be enjoyed on ice, this latest expression from the Moët & Chandon’s house is designed to be served al fresco and features powerful tropical fruit aromas and flavours of fresh red fruits.

One Square is offering two glasses of Moët & Chandon Ice Impérial, served with a small selection of British cold cuts and bread for £24 (or £69 for a bottle and platter) throughout the month of August.

Oak and hickory BBQ

Barbeque fans will also be pleased to hear that the Terrace at One Square now also sports a Big Green Egg barbeque.

Fuelled by oak and hickory charcoal, it gives the locally sourced meats served at One Square a distinct char grilled flavour. Weather permitting, the barbeque will run every Friday evening.

Grill dishes on offer include Inverurie flat iron steaks and smoked Ayrshire pork chops along with a selection of fresh seafood such as line-caught Peterhead mackerel and Shetland salmon.

Fish finger buttie

Stepping away from the barbeque, the Terrace also has its own menu of dishes rooted in British classics.

The sharing platters showcase ingredients such as crispy Scrabster monkfish scampi and Macsween haggis bon bons.

We like the sound of their fish finger buttie – one of its signature deli sandwiches.
