Chef Martin Wishart: making a move over the M8.

Award-winning chef Martin Wishart is to open the second branch of The Honours, his contemporary brasserie, in Glasgow’s Malmaison in November.

Martin has operated The Honours on Edinburgh’s Castle Street since 2011. The Honours at Malmaison will be his first Glasgow venture.

The chef already runs his two Michelin starred ventures: Restaurant Martin Wishart in Leith and Martin Wishart at Loch Lomond in Cameron House.

The old Malmaison brasserie is currently undergoing a multi-million pound refit and will re-open as The Honours around mid-November. The new restaurant is said to have around 160 covers.

Recruitment ads for the restaurant have been placed on the Caterer website.

Start of a beautiful friendship

According to the hotel, ‘Malmaison Glasgow is delighted to now be working with the award winning chef Martin Wishart by introducing The Honours to the Mal Glasgow restaurant.

‘Martin has firmly established himself as one of the UK’s most highly respected chefs, currently holding one Michelin Star in two restaurants, four AA Rosettes and a winning the title of AA Chef’s Chef of the Year 2010-2011.

‘With a shared passion for great food and great service we think this will be the start of a beautiful friendship.’

The 5pm Dining blog wishes both parties every success. Without getting too gooey, over the years, Martin has always been very generous to this blog writer when it comes to giving up his time for interviews.

More importantly, he has been one of the key players in putting Scotland’s culinary rep on the global stage.
