Ashoka

For those looking to head to Glasgow’s West End, Ashoka Ashton Lane offers some delicious choices with its festive menus. A solid start to your meal is the chef’s platter, chicken pakora, vegetable pakora, spicy chicken kebab and chicken chaat.

We’d follow that up with the hearty tastes of winter in the lamb desi, lamb with onions, tomatoes, green chillies, ginger, garlic and fresh coriander.

Masala Twist

Sticking with the West End, Masala Twist on Byres Road has some of the classic curries on their festive menu, chicken jalfrezi, lamb madras, chicken chasni to name a few.

If you’ve never tried it, you should also give their haggis pakora a go.

Kama Sutra

Adding some extra spice (wink, wink) to Christmas is Kama Sutra on Sauchiehall Street who’s Christmas offer is sure to leave you stuffed. The South Indian Garlic Chilli Chicken, chicken simmered in a rich garlic tarka with lashings of wicked green chillies, would be our pick from the mains followed by some mango Kulfi to cool us down.

Cafe Salma

Hop over Charing Cross and on this side of Sauchiehall Street is Cafe Salma, a welcoming cafe style Indian which specialises in halal cooking.

Their festive mains are cooked to your personal preferences; you can have your curry mild, medium, hot or even very hot. You can have any of the sauces with chicken, chicken tikka, lamb, prawn or vegetables. I think we’d got the chicken tikka Ceylonese korma (we can’t handle very hot, so will stick with hot).
