Fancy a warming cocktail at Monboddo Bar?

Part of the Double Tree by Hilton Hotel, Monboddo Bar on Edinburgh’s Bread Street is introducing its latest seasonal cocktail menu with a series of Cocktail Bar Theatre events.

Everyone is welcome to come along and watch the Monboddo mixologists work their magic and have a wee taste of the results.

The next demo takes place on Thursday 26th February with others to follow on the 12th and 26th of March. The demos start at 6pm.

Fresh and fruity

The new cocktail menu has an emphasis on using organic ingredients, fresh fruits, herbs and vegetables.

We’re not saying that they are health drinks but a few of them will certainly count something towards your five a day.

The bar tenders at Monboddo have sent us a couple of recipes from their new menu should you fancy trying them at home.

Lots of 5pm customers have also been enthusiastic about the afternoon teas served in the stylish bar.

Just saying.

Fizzytree

This is the bar’s tribute to the DoubleTree and it features a blend of No. 3 Gin, a generous scoop of orange sorbet, freshly squeezed lime juice, dash of pineapple juice and topped with Prosecco.

Ingredients

50ml No3 gin

25ml pineapple juice

25ml lemon juice

20ml sugar syrup

Topped with Prosecco

1 bar spoon orange sorbet

Method

Add all ingredients but Prosecco, shake, single strain into a rocks glass over cube ice.

Top up with Prosecco. Garnish it with orange sorbet spoon

 The Organic Concoction

This is a crispy and refreshing blend of Martin Miller’s gin, muddled cucumber and mint, freshly squeezed lime juice, elderflower cordial and a touch of Passion fruit syrup – all topped up with Sauvignon Blanc.

Ingredients

50ml Martin Miller’s gin

25ml elderflower cordial

25ml lime juice

50ml New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc

15ml passion fruit syrup

Cucumber and mint

Method

Crush cucumber and bruise mint into a Boston glass, add the rest of the ingredients, shake, double strain into a thin Georgian glass over cube ice.

Garnish it with two cucumber slices inside the glass and mint sprig on top.
