Mango: Latin American food, cocktails and a 3am licence.
Mango: Latin American food, cocktails and a 3am licence.

There are great new restaurants joining 5pm Dining all the time.

The latest to go live is Mango Restaurant and Bar, a late night bar, kitchen, club and music venue on Sauchiehall Street.

Mango mania

Latin American food is very much in vogue at the moment and Mango is bang on trend.

Run by the same people who have the Boteco do Brasil venues, it serves dishes from Colombia to Cuba and all points in between.

If you need a chicken and mango salad fix or have a hankering for Chilean ceviche then you should set the SatNav for Mango.

South American food is not the only draw. Mango also shows all the Copa America football games; puts on salsa classes; hosts live music and boasts steamy club nights.

A 3am licence means that you won’t have to hurry your tequila cocktail.

Lovin’ Las Iguanas

Sticking with the Latin American theme, Las Iguanas in Edinburgh has joined the 5pm family.

Among many other options, the George Street venue offers taco sharing trays, Brazilian feijoada stew and the intriguingly named xinxim – a dish which would score very highly should you ever find yourself playing Scrabble in Brazil.

Las Iguanas brings the Latin spirit to George Street.

Smoke ’em if you got ’em

Moving from South America to El Norte, 5pm Dining now features the Smokin’ Joint @ Whiski Kraft on Kent Road.

Citrus-glazed ribs; dogs topped with candied bacon and a burger which goes by the name of the Louisiana Lip Tingler are all on offer along with craft beer and lots of live music.
