Afternoon tea just got spooky at Peacock Alley.
Afternoon tea just got spooky at Peacock Alley.

Come the weekend, the streets will be filled with ghosts, ghouls and dodgy SS/terrorist/serial killer costumes designed to enrage the Daily Mail.

Amidst all the chaos, you can find serenity but keep the Halloween vibe in Peacock Alley at Waldorf Astoria Edinburgh – The Caledonian.

This Saturday and Sunday, their afternoon tea will have what we can only describe as a spooktacular flavour. Think spider’s web macaroon; RIP cupcakes; chocolate coffins and ghostly chocolate choux buns.

Young guests can have their faces painted as their favourite Halloween character and enjoy an exclusive ‘trick or treat’ around the hotel.

It is priced at £32 per person and is served between 12-5pm on Friday and 12-6pm on Saturday and Sunday.

Luxury Business Hotel

The hotel’s staff will also be celebrating this weekend. The hotel has just been announced as the Country Winner in the Luxury Business Hotel category of the World Luxury Hotel Awards.

Voted for by hotel guests, The World Luxury Hotel Awards recognise luxury hotels for their world class facilities and service excellence.  Awards are made on a country, continent and global basis.

Sticking with awards, the rather gorgeous Hutchesons Bar & Brasserie has scooped Most Stylish Restaurant at the Scottish Style Awards.

Hutchesons beat off stiff competition from Martin Wishart at The Honours, Castlehill in Dundee, Lido in Troon and The Hoebridge in Gattonside.

Restaurateur owner and chairman of Glasgow Welcomes, James Rusk says:

‘It took Louise and I two and half years to transform our vision for Hutchesons – a forgotten architectural icon into a bustling standalone dining destination. Our aim was to create an incredible space for the people of Glasgow and visitors to drink, dine and relax. To be recognised as the Most Stylish Restaurant in Scotland is phenomenal and we’re both humbled and extremely proud to receive this award.’

Other winners of interest to the blog included Kelvingrove Cafe which was named Most Stylish Bar and The Lodge on Loch Goil – Most Stylish Hotel.
