The Anchor Line is to be joined by The Atlantic Line.

A few bars and restaurants in and around Glasgow are planning on opening in the run-up to Crimbo.

Classic French

Open just over a year, the groovy Anchor Line on St Vincent Place is digging deep as they expand into the basement with a new restaurant.

We understand that the forthcoming venture will be called The Atlantic Bar and Brasserie. It will serve classic French dishes using top notch Scottish ingredients.

More news as we get it.

CAU moo-ves to Glasgow

Tinto tapas
Tinto Tapas is opening in Hamilton.

We have already mentioned CAU, the new Argentinean restaurant coming to Glasgow. They are setting up shop in the shiny new development on the corner of Ingram and Queen Street.

A sister brand to the Gaucho group, CAU is said to be ‘inspired by the vibrancy, colour and cultural diversity of Buenos Aires’.

CAU Glasgow is the group’s fourteenth opening in the UK and the first in Scotland.

Set across a two floor location, the ground floor bar gives diners the option to indulge in a cocktail before or after dinner. There will also be a terrace area.

Grass-fed Argentinean beef is at the heart of the menu and the coal-fired oven will be a prominent feature.

The CAU menu changes with the seasons, but their classic steak highlights include a Tira de Ancho – a spiral cut of rib-eye, marinated in chimichurri and grilled slowly – plus the lomito, a fillet of rump which, apparently, is considered the finest cut in Argentina.

In a statement worded in a way which she may come to rue, Marketing Director Charley Springall says: ‘It gives me no greater pleasure than to announce that CAU is bringing the vibrancy of Buenos Aires to the North of Great Britain.’

Get the biers in

A few weeks back, we noted that Bavaria Brauhaus is opening on Bothwell Street. Word is that the official opening is on the 11th of November. More news as it comes in.

Tinto in Hamilton

Finally, we will point out that that the popular Tinto Tapas family is expanding. The branches at Uddingston, East Kilbride plus those in Glasgow’s West End and Southside are already very popular with customers of 5pm Dining.

A new branch opens on Hamilton’s Gateside Street tomorrow.
