Byron have brought their burger to the ‘Burgh.

Monday morning, the start of a new week and the perfect time to scribble about some new Edinburgh restaurants which are in the pipeline.

Topolabamba

First up, we’ll mention that Topolabamba are coming to Edinburgh.

Already well established on Glasgow’s St Vincent Street, the Mexican street food restaurant and Margarita bar is planning to open this spring on Lothian Road.

Byron

Also coming to Lothian Road in the next few weeks is a new branch of Byron Burger.

The first Edinburgh branch of Byron is in the process of opening at the mo’ on North Bridge. We’ll be back later this week with more details after we have swung by the venue.

Belted Burger

If you like burgers then you may also want to keep an eye on the Belted Burgers outlet which is taking shape on Frederick Street.

Expanding from the original branch in Carlisle, the nascent group of restaurants has plans for Aberdeen, Dundee, Glasgow and Newcastle.

The USP of Belted Burgers is that they use only Scottish beef from the owners’ farm.

Wee Buddha

If Frederick is one of the capital’s more busy streets, then Jamaica Street, tucked away off Howe Street on the New Town/Stockbridge border, is one of Edinburgh’s more quiet spots.

It’s also home to the Wee Buddha pub and kitchen which started welcoming guests last weekend.

Formerly Iglu, the premises have had a refurb and now serve Asian street food tapas alongside beers wines and cocktails.

The bar snacks or Wee Hings feature choices such as the salt and spicy chicken wings, edamame beans and haggis wontons.

More substantial ‘bowls and chopsticks’ dishes include king prawn and veg with Singapore rice noodles or stir fry veg with bean curd in chilli bean sauce, served with Thai jasmine rice.
