Da Rum Ba: no prizes for guessing what they sell.
Da Rum Ba: no prizes for guessing what they sell.

Some places do exactly what they say on the tin. If a place is called Restaurant Mark Greenaway then you don’t need to be Einstein to figure that Mark Greenaway is the chef patron there. Ditto Brian Maule at Chardon D’Or.

Other places have names which give a fair idea of what they do. Hello Meat Bar, Alston Bar and Beef plus A Little Taste of Italy Ristorante Teatro.

Sun is rum

On Glasgow’s Bath Street, a new venture has taken a belt and braces approach to doing what they say on the tin.

Da Rum Ba serves rum. You might have guessed that from the name or perhaps from Facebook posts like this:

‘Work is done.. Sun is Rum. Rum is fun.. Rum is Yum.. Rum is YUM FUN… Cocktails at £3 is just the Excuse We all need.. To have Some Yum Rum Fun. Did I mention its Sunny.. Whoop whoop.. You make sense of this I am off for a RUM!!’

Get the picture? I’m not sure we can add much other than to say that they serve food although details are sketchy at the moment. They also play a lot of reggae, salsa, hip hop , dance hall and funky house.

The 5pm Dining blog wishes them every success in their rum-based endeavours.

Refurb for Committee Room No 9

In other Glasgow news, Committee Room No 9 on John Street has a had a gorgeous refurbishment and they have also launched a new menu.

Committee Room No 9 is looking good.

We like the sound of the buttermilk-marinated fried chicken and the currywurst dog but there are plenty more choices there.

Look out for their special offers. Today and every Wednesday is Wing Wednesday when diners can tuck into a kilo (!) of chicken wings for a tenner.

Thursdays means buns and beers – enjoy any burger or hotdog, fries and a bottle of refreshing Sol for £10, every Thursday.

As always, all the big sporting matches are shown on the multiple screens which are strategically placed all over the bar.
