There are some interesting events taking place in the Galvin brothers’ restaurants in Edinburgh this week. On Friday 17th June, some of Chris and Jeff Galvin’s best loved dishes will be served at a special lunch in The Pompadour by Galvin in The Caledonian – A Waldforf Astoria Hotel.

Sunday roast is always popular at the Brasserie.

The £45, five course lunch will include a lasagne of North Berwick crab; a daube of beef with snail Bourguignon and the Galvins’ incredible apple tarte Tatin. Head chef Fraser Allan will be the man with the plan in the kitchen.

Four course dinner

That evening, the action shifts to the Galvin Brasserie de Luxe where chef Jamie Knox will be preparing a four course dinner for £49. The menu is here but highlights include the duck breast with Lyonnaise salad and boudin noir; the truffled brie de Meaux and our old friend the apple tarte Tatin.

Of course, this weekend will also see Father’s Day on the Sunday and both The Pompadour and the Brasserie are running special menus. The Pompadour by Galvin has a £39, three course lunch. The offer includes a voucher so that fathers can return on another date and have a meal on the house.

Under tens dine free

In the Galvin Brasserie de Luxe, the kitchen will be offering the a la carte menu, a prix fixe menu and the Sunday roast. Children aged 10 and under dine free (one child per adult dines free) and the kids can be entertained in the Children’s Club, creating special Father’s Day cards.

All fathers will also receive a voucher to enjoy a three course seasonal menu with the brasserie’s compliments on their next visit.
