apex afternoon tea

The 5pm blog was asked to try afternoon tea at the Apex Hotel in Glasgow recently and what a treat it was. Here are four reasons why you should give it a try.

1. Shake your bon bon…

savouries

Savoury treats are part of the enjoyment of an afternoon tea and the Apex’s savouries certainly don’t let you down. The highlight is the haggis bon bon, a Scottish twist for the traditional serving.

Don’t worry though, you still get some delicious sandwiches including ham and mustard on white bread, roast beef and horseradish on brown and egg mayo in a brioche bun, as well as a cheese and onion mini quiche.

2. Cake time

The cake treats are the perfect compliment to the savouries. Lemon drizzle cake, chocolate brownie with vanilla mascarpone, strawberry tart, meringue sandwich and coconut sponge – surely something to suit all sweet tastes and just the right size portions so you don’t feel excessively full.

3. Location & venue

The Apex has a fantastic Glasgow city centre location on Bath Street, very easy to get to, with plenty of transport links nearby.

The restaurant itself is a lovely setting to enjoy your afternoon tea; a modern, airy space, huge booths look out of floor to ceiling windows letting you people-watch whilst you enjoy your treats.

4. The deal

For a limited time, you can get this very Apex afternoon tea for two people for only £16.95 on the 5pm Big Deal.
