Christmas is coming. Be prepared.
Christmas is coming. Be prepared.

The Christmas lights are up; the turkeys are worried and your most efficient/annoying friend has already sent out their Christmas cards.

There is only one thing left to tick off before we can officially start the Crimbo countdown: Foodies Festival Christmas.

The evergreen food festival returns to Edinburgh International Conference Centre this weekend.

Running from Friday 25th to Sunday 27th November, it has everything you need to make your Christmas a gastronomic tour de force.

Big Deal on tickets

And guess what? We have a Big Deal on tickets to Foodies Festival Christmas.

We’re not going to detail all the options here but prices start at £10 for a show guide and entrance for one person on Friday. Get ’em here.

There’s a huge amount of people to see; things to do and food to scoff.

One of the highlights is the Chefs’ Theatre which will host award-winning chefs, cooking up their hit dishes.

Names lined up include Masterchef 2016 Winner Jane Devonshire. Jane will be demonstrating her favourite family Christmas recipes for guests.

Michelin stars

There will also be an appearance from Great British Menu star Michael Bremner.  His beautifully executed mackerel dish, A Message to the Lode Star, reduced veteran judge and two Michelin-starred chef Daniel Clifford to tears (and not because he’d overdone the vinegar).

Acclaimed chefs also in the bill include Michelin-starred Marcelo Tully and Brian Grigor; Masterchef the Professionals champion Jamie Scott; Scottish Young Chef of the Year Adam Newth and a host of others from the Scottish culinary elite.

There are plenty of other attractions to keep visitors fascinated. The Cake & Bake Theatre has Burlesque Baker Charlotte White creating a Contemporary Christmas Cake in just 30 minutes.

Master chocolatier Fiona Sciolti showcases a new selection of chocolate desserts and treats (no grabbing) and offers a festive take on that Spanish classic, churros.

In the Drinks Theatre, Champagne expert Neil Philips and wine experts Charles Metcalfe and Brian Elliot introduce their Christmas tipples and Melissa Cole gives guided craft beer tastings. Gin, whisky and Christmas cocktail master classes offer expert instruction.

Food, glorious food

Gourmet foodstuffs abound in the Artisan Christmas Market including cheeses, chutneys, oils, Christmas hampers and gifts. The Pudding Hall offers up artisan macaroons, cupcakes and sweet seasonal treats.

Family atmosphere

For younger foodies, the Elves Cookery School offers tutorials in gingerbread man baking and Christmas Cookie decorating.
