Old Fashioned made with Wild Turkey: ideal for Christmas sipping.
Old Fashioned made with Wild Turkey: ideal for Christmas sipping.

It’s been fun but the 5pm Dining blog has gotta go.

We have a backlog of Old Fashioneds to get through.

We will return after Christmas – on Wednesday to be exact – with a look back at the food and drink trends of the last year.

In the meantime, should you get bored of the TV schedules here is a link to episode one of Munchies Food Guide to Scotland.

It was first posted in 2014 but it remains fresh and withstands a second viewing.

If you haven’t come across Munchies before, it is the food and drinks wing of Vice, the snotty, punk digital media company.

Their Food Guide to Scotland is very entertaining and it covers a wide swathe of the country’s culinary foibles from beautiful seafood to the sort of deep-fried nightmares that the tourist board wishes didn’t exist.

In episode one, the presenter Charlet Duboc – who sounds as posh as her name suggests – goes to Glasgow. Here she meets Danny McLaren, aka The Mad Chef, who introduces her to the delights of cooking with Buckfast and Irn Bru.

We would have embedded the video in this blog but it’s rather sweary so you may want to think twice before firing it up in front of a sensitive aunt.

Tallyho!
