Action for Children turns around lives

Action for Children’s Moving On project turns around the lives of young men who have been in Polmont Young Offenders institution.

The project aims to reduce the risk of reoffending. Over 80% of the young men taking part in the project don’t return to prison.

Part of the project includes YesChef, a programme that trains six young men with cooking skills.

It also gives the would-be-chefs work experience in top catering facilities including the Tennent’s Training Academy and restaurants like The Finnieston.

The training culminates on the 28th of May in an event for 500 people at Glasgow’s Hilton where the six trainee chefs will demonstrate their new skills by cooking a six course meal for the guests. You can book a place here.

Young men who’ve previously taken part in the project have gone on to work in restaurants throughout Glasgow.

The project makes a massive long-term difference to the lives of the men taking part.

By enjoying a meal in some of Glasgow’s most popular restaurants, you will be giving others a helping hand.
