Paesano West End is now open to the Glaswegian public.

At midday today the new West End branch of the popular city centre restaurant opened its doors and began serving the doughy Napoli style pizzas that have made their flagship restaurant so popular.

Paesano West End invited the 5pm Food & Dining Blog to a pre launch evening last night, allowing us a sneak peak of their new restaurant before everyone else.

Here’s what to expect.

Paesano West End

Situated on Great Western Road beside Kelvinbridge, the new Paesano West End is housed in what was previously a chain coffee shop.

The restaurant have done a great job of showcasing the building’s original features like the pillars and stained glass windows in the ceiling while updating the surroundings to the same industrial chic style as the city centre restaurant.

Marble walls, pendant lamps, and the restaurant’s trademark glowing lightbulb sign spelling out Paesano on the wall contribute to the bright, modern space.

The chefs create the pizzas at an open plan counter in front of diners, and the windows looking out over Great Western Road and Otago Street offer great people watching opportunities of West End life.

Those familiar with Paesano’s city centre restaurant will know what to expect from Paesano West End.

Their menu is the same selection of Napoli style pizzas which are cooked for seconds in their 500 centigrade wood-fired ovens imported from Naples. Their side nibbles of olives, balsamic onion and salads and desserts of ice cream and a tart of the day are the same too.

The restaurant’s methodology seems to be, if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.

Popular West End restaurant

Bringing their formula of authentic quality pizza, efficient service, and stylish but laid back surroundings to a prime location in the West End will undoubtedly be a recipe for success for Paesano West End.

Their city centre restaurant is so popular that despite its large space there is often a queue (although service is speedy so diners are in and out fast). We wouldn’t be surprised to see West Enders queuing out the door of this restaurant this weekend.
