New bars and restaurants
New bars and restaurants: Edinburgh’s Brewhemia is daring customers to be different and try their tank beers.

New restaurants and bars in Glasgow and Edinburgh are popping up like spring daffodils.

Here is the pick of the bunch.

First up, we hear that Shimla Pinks on Pollokshaws Road in Glasgow has turned up its toes. A new bar restaurant called Brodies will take its place.

The 5pm Dining blog understands that the 100 cover restaurant  will be a casual dining operation with an emphasis on Mediterranean-style dishes.

The plan  is to launch at the end of the month.

A new Epoch dawns

Sticking with new restaurants and bars in Glasgow, the launch of Epoch in Princes Square has been put back. Billed as a modern European restaurant and cocktail bar, the unit was originally due to open at Easter.

However, their instagram account is saying it will now be a June launch.

And finally, in Glasgow, it appears that Partick Duck Club will occupy the Hyndland Street premises formerly occupied by Rio Café.

New restaurants and bars in Edinburgh

Moving to new restaurants and bars in Edinburgh, regular readers may recall that we blogged about developments on Market Street.

In particular, we speculated about that might replace Sportsters bar under the Scotsman Hotel.

Going by plans submitted to the council, we reported that the new development would include a bar called The Scotsman Bier Halle.

We were almost right. Currently taking shape, the new venture will be called Brewhemia.

Along with ‘fresh coffee and delicious food’, it promises ‘tank-fresh beer straight from Bohemia for perfect unpasteurised pints’.

They are currently recruiting.

New restaurants and bars in Linlithgow

While all the above are new restaurants and bars which are in the pipeline, our final item is CafeBar 1807, already up and running on Linlithgow High Street.

The sister bar to the well established Cafe 1912 in Bathgate, the place opened its doors a couple of weeks back.

Live music, cocktails, beers, wines, a modern bar menu and a dog-friendly policy are among the attractions.
