56 North

Scottish gin
Scottish gin features prominently on the gantry at 56 North. Pic: [56 North Facebook][3].

We wouldn’t say that 56 North are just about the gin – among many other options, they do great gourmet burgers – but they are definitely gin specialists. In fact, they stock over 80 different gins and run regular gin tasting master classes. If they weren’t Edinburgh’s first specialist gin bar then they were certainly ahead of the pack.

Navigate your way to 56 North with this ginspired dining deal from 5pm Dining:

Receive a 20% discount on your food bill when dining on the a la carte menu. Average price for two courses before discount is £17 per person. Includes a Scottish gin and tonic.

Bar Soba Merchant City

Scottish gin
Pan-Asian dishes are on the menu at Bar Soba.

The latest addition to the Bar Soba family is on Albion Street in Glasgow’s vibrant Merchant City. The Bar Soba brand is built on pan-Asian street food, cool cocktails, DJs and a hip manga/graffiti decor. This new branch is popular for lunch, after work drinks and, of course, weekend parties and pre-club drinks.

The Bar Soba chefs produce a tempting variety of dishes which have their roots in Japan, Korea, China, Vietnam and Malaysia.

Take your taste buds to Bangkok and beyond with this gin-fuelled dining deal:

£18 per person for two courses on the pre-theatre menu. Includes a perfect serve gin & tonic.

Cafe Source @ St Andrews in the Square

Scottish gin
Your table is waiting at Cafe Source.

Cafe Source is a contemporary Scottish restaurant which is found downstairs from the cultural venue and former church, St. Andrew’s in the Square. The best Scottish produce features prominently on the menu in dishes like Cullen skink; black-pudding stuffed pork belly from Ramsay’s of Carluke and Orkney fudge cheesecake.

Enjoy a Scottish gin to go with the other Scottish produce with this 5pm dining offer:

£16.95 per person for two courses on pre-theatre menu with a Blackwoods Gin & Tonic.

Guy’s

Guy's goes its own sweet way with a unique decor and globe-trotting menu.
Guy’s goes its own sweet way with a unique decor and globe-trotting menu.

One of Glasgow’s most individual dining spots, Guy’s Restaurant and Bar is located in the heart of the Merchant City. Chef patron Guy Cowan used to provide location catering to the film industry before opening this deliciously quirky Candleriggs business.

From the eclectic menus to the bohemian decor, Guy’s manages to be utterly unique while also appealing to a wide range of loyal diners.

Globe-trotting does not begin to describe the extensive range of flavours on offer at Guy’s. Delicate sushi, mince ‘n’ tatties, handmade ravioli, Aberdeen Angus steak and wild Scottish venison in a teriyaki sauce might all appear on the regularly changing menus.

Go global with this gin-driven dining deal from Guy’s:

£22.90 per person for two courses on the pre-theatre menu. Includes a Perfect Serve – a double shot of premium gin with a choice of garnish and Fever tree tonic.

Rioja

Modern and contemporary tapas are on the menu at Rioja.
Modern and contemporary tapas are on the menu at Rioja.

Since the end of the Noughties, the Finnieston area of Glasgow has become a hot spot for fashionable new bars and restaurants. Opened in the spring of 2014, Rioja Finnieston fits right in. Mismatched, thrift store chic gives this Spanish bar and kitchen a bohemian feel.

Classic and contemporary Spanish tapas are the name of the game here. Think prawns cooked in garlic and chilli or grilled octopus with potato foam and smoked paprika.

Try the tapas with gin thanks to Rioja’s dining deal:

£23.95 per person for three tapas from the pre-theatre menu. Includes either a Hendrick’s or Eden Mill gin cocktail.

The Stockbridge Restaurant

Scottish gin.
Candlelight, great food and gin. The Stockbridge Restaurant has it all.

The Stockbridge Restaurant is a family-run venue on St. Stephens Street. Exceptional food and attentive service are the aim here only without the flummery sometimes associated with fine dining. Clever lighting, including candles and well positioned mirrors, give everything, and everybody, a romantic glow. Paintings in the style of the Scottish Colourists add further panache.

Creative European dishes made with fresh, seasonal produce fill the menus at The Stockbridge Restaurant. We’re talking seared salmon with crab and scallop beignet, crushed heritage potatoes, braised vegetables and langoustine bisque. Or  crispy Gressingham duck leg with sautéed heritage potatoes, black pudding and salad Lyonnaise.

Say ‘Chin chin!’ with gin and tonic with this dining deal:

£27.95 per person for two courses from the set menu. Includes a gin & tonic.

Wicked Lounge

Scottish gin
Eden Mill Gin and Fever-Tree tonic are part of the offer from Wicked Lounge.

Wicked Lounge is an independently owned, late night music lounge on Candleriggs in Glasgow’s Merchant City. It is a sophisticated spot with hints of a vintage speakeasy about the decor. During the day, the huge windows let the sunlight flood in. As well as relaxing daytime live music, there is lots of evening entertainment including an open mic night, quiz and late night bands on Friday and Saturday. Guests are gently encouraged to dress to impress.

The menus change regularly but typical starters might be the crab cake, Scotch egg with coronation dressing or the warm tomato and goat’s cheese tartlet. The main courses might offer fish and chips, chicken tikka masala, the halloumi burger or the house beef burger with shallot jam, burger sauce and fries.

Take centre stage with this dining deal:

£19 per person for two courses on all day menu. Includes an Eden Mill Gin & Fever-Tree tonic.
