New restaurants in Glasgow
New restaurants in Glasgow: Scotch beef remains a focus as Hutchesons becomes Hutchesons City Grill.

As summer continues to shine, new restaurants in Glasgow are popping up like patches of sunburn on those foolish enough to go taps aff.

In particular, Bearsden is booming at the moment. We told you about Monadh Kitchen on New Kirk Road a few weeks back.

They will soon have a new neighbour on Kirk Lane. The former Las Ramblas is becoming an Indian restaurant.

We understand it will launch in early August under the name Raja Rani.

Sticking in the same area, The Library is also planning to dip its toes in the Bearsden waters.

The new venture is taking shape on Milngavie Road.

Details are sketchy at the moment but we suspect there may be an Italian influence to the menu.

And we’ll bring you more news as we get it.

New restaurants in Glasgow: La Lanterna expands

Moving into town, La Lanterna – long established on Hope Street in the city centre – will soon have a second branch in the West End.

The popular Italian is setting up shop in another veteran of Glasgow’s Italian restaurant scene – La Parmigiana.

Again in the West End, Tony’s Pizzeria is coming together on Gibson Street as it expands from its Southside (crispy) base.

In Partick, look out for the imminent opening of Celino’s. Long established in the East End, the family-run restaurant, pizzeria and deli is opening a new 120 seat restaurant on Dumbarton Road.

New restaurants in Glasgow:Hutchesons regenerates

Finally, many people have been very excited about the recent regeneration of Dr Who.

As far as we are concerned, the regeneration of Hutchesons in the Merchant City is a much bigger story.

The Ingram Street venue is in the middle of a makeover. The plan is to re-open on Friday 21st July.

In the new Hutchesons, the main dining room will be called Hutchesons City Grill. The ground level Champagne bar will be transformed into The 158 Club Lounge.

Beautiful beef will continue to be a focus for the kitchen. Diners can look forward to a greater variation of cuts along with guest steaks sourced from the finest breeds of cattle across the world. Scotch beef will remain the staple of the venue.

Co-founder James Rusk explained that ‘it’s about making sure we never rest on our laurels. Hutchesons has been a massive hit in its formative years. In order for us to continue that success, we need to make sure we are constantly evolving with the times. We see now as the perfect opportunity to create a new-look Hutchesons.’

You can book Hutchesons City Grill via 5pm.
