New restaurants in Glasgow just keep coming…

Way back in December, we said that the original Celino’s was expanding from its East End base on Alexandra Parade and opening a new branch in Partick.

The new cafe/restaurant opened at the weekend.

If you fancy a plate of spinach and ricotta ravioli or a Milano salame pizza, you know where to go.

Incidentally, you could book in to the original Celino’s via 5pm for lunch today. £10.95 will buy you two courses and a glass of wine from the business lunch menu.

New restaurants in Glasgow: Hickory

We also note that Hickory Steakhouse is planning to open its doors on Thursday.

Formerly Agenda87 on Kilmarnock Road, the Shawlands restaurant promises beer, wine cocktails and steaks cooked on a hickory wood grill.

Gliding down to East Kilbride, Peter’s Seafood and Grill is now No 38.

The menus are seasonal and change regularly so that might translate into starters such as prawn and crab fritters with chilli boo jam or West Coast scallops, quickly seared and served with pea purée, bacon crisps and pickled shallots.

While seafood is prominent on the menus, it is not the sole focus of the kitchen.

Hung for 45 days, steaks from Millers of Speyside take pride of place in the grill section. Other options might be the tandoori chicken breast, Moroccan spiced lamb cutlets or the chicken and ham pie, a real home-style, comfort food dish.

Great reviews

No 38 is quickly winning friends on its 5pm page:

‘Loved it. This was a last minute booking and turned out to be one of the best meals we’ve had. We ate from the weekend 5pm deal menu, amazing value. The chef’s appetiser of feta tart was delicious and set the bar high for what was to come. Every dish we had was delicious. The staff were great and we loved the atmosphere of this lovely little restaurant. Well done to all involved. We will definitely be back and will be telling all our friends.’ Rating 5/5

Check their 5pm page for special offers. For example, book in between 5pm and 8.15pm on Wednesday and you can have two courses from the set menu for £11.95.
