Rioja Finnieston: keeping the taste of Spain fresh.
Rioja Finnieston: keeping the taste of Spain fresh.

Rioja Finnieston is keeping the holiday spirit alive with a new seasonal menu which changes every four weeks.

For many people, the summer holidays are drawing to a close. While it may be time to pack away the flip flops and sun cream, there is no need to say ‘Adios’ to the flavours of the Med.

At Rioja Finnieston, the kitchen has started to roll out its new seasonal menu. Every four weeks, their market menu will change to reflect the latest seasonal ingredients.

The current menu takes its culinary cue from San Sebastián, the gastronomic hotspot on the Bay of Biscay in the Basque country.

Spanish and Scottish ingredients

New dishes on the menu include green apple ceviche with smoked mackerel and celery plus squid ink rice with langoustine.

Rioja is smart about mixing and matching Scottish and Spanish ingredients in dishes like the West Coast mussels cooked with Albariño wine and lemongrass.

As well as seafood from Glasgow’s own Bernard Corrigan, Rioja uses ingredients such as Ibérian ham reared from black Spanish pigs and Galician blonde beef aged for 78 days from Rubia Gallega cattle.

Unveiling the new menu, Toni Carbajosa co-owner of Rioja said:

‘Summer isn’t just about salads. Evoke your senses and indulge in the exciting flavours of Spanish cooking and culture. Our team has created an exciting monthly menu that will inspire you to explore modern gastronomy techniques and dishes that will transport you straight to the vibrant streets of Spain. Our dishes are creative, authentic and we really can’t wait for our customers to “Taste Our Spain” in Rioja.’

Foodie favourite: Rioja Finnieston

Rioja has long been a go-to dining destination in Glasgow since it opened in 2013. Originally, it was a pop-up before cementing its place as a foodie favourite with permanent residence in 2014.

With a combined rating of 4.3/5, the Argyle Street restaurant is a hit with 5pm Dining customers.

The restaurant runs regular dining deals. For example, book a table for noon to 3.45pm today, via 5pm Dining, and you can enjoy three tapas from the pre-theatre menu plus a glass of wine for £14.95.

Of course, Glasgow has lots of great Spanish tapas joints and elegant Spanish restaurants. You can browse them and their offers from here.
