Like gin? Sip up with these Glasgow gin events.

We like gin. We know you like gin. Everyone likes gin. So let's drink gin at these Glasgow gin festivals.

First up, Gin71 is expanding from its existing Renfield Street and Merchant City locations with a new bar in House of Fraser on Buchanan Street.

The new gin joint will launch this weekend with a gin festival.

£10 will get you day entry and the chance to meet (and presumably sample the wares) of several distillers. £25 will buy you two 50ml G 'n' Ts and a taste of the latest Gin71 dining menu. Tix here.

Scottish gin brands

Makar, Daffy's, Arbikie, Rock Rose and Edinburgh Gin are just a handful of the names appearing.

As we reported a few months back, Gin71 is also involved in The Gin Spa, the UK's first gin-inspired botanical spa.

In the light of all this new activity, the company has decided to withdraw from the Edinburgh market and focus on the Glasgow outlets. This what they have to say, 'Our Edinburgh location will be phasing a close down with Gin71 closing from the 1st March and the location being completely closed from the 1st April.'

Gin festival at Blythswood Square

Looking ahead a few weekends, The Principal Blythswood Square hotel is holding a gin festival on Sunday 25 March from noon to 5pm. There will be lots of new craft gins to taste; perfect serves and cocktail masterclasses with Blythswood Square Head Bartender, Conor Jones.

Tickets cost £25 per person and include canapés; three drinks vouchers, gin festival entrance, a cocktail masterclass and a bag of treats to take home.

Gin brands attending include Hendricks, Caorunn, Roku, Stirling Gin and many more.

And, if you don't like gin, there are other reasons for paying a visit to Blythswood Square.

We are currently running a Big Deal for two people to have a strawberry afternoon tea in the hotel's stylish Salon bar. It costs £15.

It is valid from the 12th of March and could be very useful if you need to find a gift to slip into your Mother's Day card.
