New Edinburgh restaurants New Edinburgh restaurants: The Register Club opens on St Andrew Square in June.

Looking for new Edinburgh restaurants? The imminent eating and drinking openings in The Edinburgh Grand are among the summer's most anticipated restaurant launches.

Over the last two years, the former global headquarters of the Royal Bank of Scotland on St Andrew Square have been redeveloped into a hotel and leisure complex.

As part of the development, the team behind the Bon Vivant bar and restaurant group have created The Register Club. They are also working on an aperitif cocktail bar and a late night hangout offering live music in the basement.

Both The Edinburgh Grand and The Register Club are scheduled to launch on the 1st of June.

New Edinburgh restaurants: high-end Champagne and cocktail lounge

Billed as 'Edinburgh's "Grand" new social spot', it is claimed that The Register Club ‘will combine the kudos of a private club, the buzz of a cocktail bar and the interiors of an upscale establishment.’

Occupying the entire west wing of the St Andrew Square building’s fourth floor, The Register Club will be a high-end Champagne and cocktail lounge bar.

It will offer 'a reservation-only spot to eat, drink and relax in comfort and style'.

The venue will be open during the day and into the evening serving simple dishes that put the spotlight on local and artisan producers.

The Bon Vivant Group also runs the Devil’s Advocate in the Old Town and both Bon Vivant bar and El Cartel Mexican restaurant in the city centre. All are well known for their cocktail lists and polished service. Expect plenty of both at The Register Club.

In addition to the main lounge and cocktail bar, The Register Club will also boast its own Games Room which will be available for private events.

New to Edinburgh

Gavin MacLennan, General Manager of Lateral City, which operates The Edinburgh Grand, said: 'The Register Club will bring something completely new to Edinburgh. It will combine the kudos of a private club, the buzz of a cocktail bar and the interiors of an upscale establishment.

'We asked The Bon Vivant team to operate it, bringing their expert touch to ensuring that the experience in this breath-taking space is top notch. The Register Club is sure to become the city’s most stylish, yet discreet, spot for Edinburgh’s well-heeled set as well as our guests at the five-star Edinburgh Grand itself.'

Stuart McCluskey, Founder of Bon Vivant, adds: 'The Register Club is undoubtedly a unique and aspirational addition to Edinburgh’s vibrant bar and restaurant scene. We will provide a selection of well-executed dishes and inspired, bespoke cocktails to a discerning clientele in a stunning yet relaxing space...'

Also pencilled in for The Edinburgh Grand this summer is a new branch of Hawksmoor. The London-based, upmarket steakhouse will be opening a 170 cover restaurant in the former banking hall.
