Leith has a new restaurant: Borough.

Scheduled to open in July, Borough is taking shape in the Henderson Street premises formerly occupied by Norn.

The Head Chef is Darren Murray who also held the same role in the restaurant's former incarnation.

The new venture promises to serve-up contemporary European cuisine within a relaxed, neighbourhood atmosphere.

The menu is described as 'laidback'. It has a flexible format with small and large plates designed to allow diners to gently graze or indulgently scoff as they see fit.

An extensive wine selection is promised with many lots of choice by the glass.

Borough: contemporary cuisine

Head Chef, Darren Murray, commented:

'With Michelin-star restaurants, gin distilleries and coffee roasters rubbing shoulders with one another, Leith has quickly earned a coveted reputation as one of Europe’s most exciting foodie boroughs.

'The Borough team can’t wait to add to this vibrant scene with a dining experience that’s comfortably woven into the neighbourhood. Borough will combine a friendly, convivial atmosphere with contemporary cuisine inspired by seasonal sourcing and partnerships with local suppliers.

Darren Murray will be joined by Archie Kyle, formerly of Fishers in Leith, as Restaurant Manager.

Borough will open to the public from the 7th of July.

As we have mentioned previously, Scott Smith, formerly head honcho at Norn, has decamped to Broughton Street and set up a new restaurant.

He is now rattling the pans as boss chef at Fhior.

Himalayan Dine: new Shawlands restaurant

In Glasgow, Himalayan Dine is a new Indian and Nepalese restaurant which is coming together on Kilmarnock Road.

The restaurant is setting up in the premises which formerly housed Little India.
