Afternoon tea week G&Tea for two at Champagne Central?

Ah, afternoon tea! How do I love thee? Let me count the ways...

Sorry, we've seen too many Fringe shows recently and have come over all thespian.

The only solution is a decadent afternoon tea accompanied by a stiff gin cocktail.

And look what's just landed in our inbox...

In one week, on Tuesday 14th August to be exact, the National Afternoon Tea Week will launch.

To mark the event, Champagne Central bar at Glasgow's iconic Principal Grand Central Hotel is set to launch G&Tea.

Doing pretty much what it says on the tin, this is an inviting blend of afternoon tea with tea-infused gin cocktails.

There will be five different cocktails on offer:

Apple & Cinnamon Spritz – Caorunn, Xante, lemon juice, cinnamon syrup, apple juice, Apple Crunch tea, topped with soda

Just Peachy – Sipsmith Gin, Peach Schnapps, English Breakfast tea, lemon juice, sugar syrup, peach bitters

Honey & Gin-ger Punch – Martin Millers Gin, lemon & ginger tea, honey, lemon juice, sugar, topped with lemonade

Cucumber Green Tea – Hendrick's, Cointreau, green tea, lemon juice, sugar syrup, topped with soda

Raspberry Iced Tea – Ketel One Citron, Chambord, cranberry & raspberry tea, lemon juice, sugar syrup all topped with soda. OK, you're right, Ketel One Citron is a vodka but let's not split hairs, eh?

'Afternoon tea is very popular'

G&Tea at Champagne Central will offer afternoon tea with a choice of two gin and tea-infused cocktails, priced at £32.95 per person.

Allan Wilson, Director of Operations, said: 'We are delighted to present our new G&Tea package.

'Afternoon tea is very popular among our customers and we are always looking to keep this offer fresh and new. G&Tea does exactly this.

'We look forward to rolling this out from 14th August onwards.'

Champagne Central recently underwent a sparkling makeover. New seating areas were created along with exclusive booths. Beautiful marble tables were introduced and the bar was extended to cater for its extensive Champagne and gin offering.

The original domed ceiling, marble floors and regal pillars have been accentuated by the recent works.

We blogged about the fantoosh makeover here.

If you can't wait that long for your afternoon tea fix, you can, of course, book into Champagne Central via 5pm Dining.

And if you are not going to be in Glasgow for the week beginning 14th August, or simply want to look at wider options, we have oodles of afternoon tea offers on 5pm.
