Are we now entering a golden era of veggie food? From fine dining to pub fare, there are more exciting meat-free choices than ever before. It’s safe to say that the days of tasteless bean burgers are all but gone (so no more drenching a sad, limp patty with ketchup in a desperate attempt to give it flavour). These days, whether you are vegetarian, vegan or just legume-curious, there is plenty of choice to be had.

So that’s why we’re celebrating it with 5pm Vegetarian Week, which offers a range of dining deals at veggie-friendly restaurants across Glasgow. But where to start? Well, to make life easy on you, we’ve rounded up a few of the best.

Craving a slap-up vegetarian pizza or pasta? Then head to cosy Merchant City tavern Osteria Italiana. Or if you’d like to escape the dreich weather and sample sunny Mediterranean flavours, how about chic Greek-cypriot restaurant, Halloumi?

Fans of pan-Asian food should get themselves over to Bar Soba on Byres Road, while curry lovers can tuck into plant-based Indian cuisine at Masala Twist.

Finally, if you are looking for some decent vegetarian pub grub, then stylish gastro-bar The Social on Royal Exchange Square should hit the spot.

We don’t think that we’re exaggerating when we say that Glasgow is well on its way to becoming veggie Valhalla. The reign of the spinach has truly begun.

Plenty of more Glasgow eating spots are taking part in 5pm Vegetarian Week. So why not find a dining deal that you fancy and treat yourself to a slap-up veggie feast?
