The much loved Southside restaurant has joined the 5pm family which means you can browse its menus and offers as well as booking online.

A family-run restaurant, Buongiorno is located on the bustling Pollokshaws Road close to Queen’s Park.

It is a cosy wee space with a warm welcome.

Buongiorno: Classic cuisine in a comfortable setting

The kitchen team at Buongiorno serve up a range of hearty Italian favourites with a few signature specials.

Menus can change, but starters might feature the garlic breaded mushrooms, the Italian sausage in creamy tomato sauce on toasted bread and the chef’s soup of the day.

Traditionalists might want to tuck into the prawn Marie Rose while more adventurous diners could tackle the crostini dolcelatte - toasted Italian bread topped with pan-fried mushrooms, cream, white wine and dolcelatte cheese.

Naturally, these is a wide variety of hand-stretched pizza at Buongiorno.

Popular toppings include pepperoni, pancetta, ham, BBQ chicken, peppers, red onion, chilli, or mushrooms.

The pasta dishes are always popular especially house specials like the penne Buongiorno with chicken, the linguini meatballs and the salmon tagliatelle.

Vegetarians can tuck into choices such as the quattro formaggio or the spinach and ricotta cannelloni.

Other mains include the chicken Milanese with linguini Napoli and the baked fillet of haddock in capers, olives and a fresh tomato broth.

Desserts include a classic tiramisu; a trio of Italian ice cream and affogato - the delicious combination of vanilla gelato and a shot of espresso.

Close to rail and bus links

Buongiorno is just a five-minute stroll from both Shawlands and Crossmyloof train stations. There are regular bus routes on the main road outside and limited free pay parking can be found at nearby Shawlands arcade.
