Standby for news on Lansdowne by Mother India, Blendworks Gin School and Bibi Aperitivo Bar.

We are all very excited at the news that the Mother India empire is to expand.

We knew that they had taken over the Lansdowne Bar premises on Lansdowne Crescent but we didn't know what their plans were for the site.

Apparently, they are branching out from their hugely successful Indian menus and adding on Middle Eastern dishes. We understand that there will be plenty of veggie and vegan options.

More news as we get it.

It's a gin thing

Next up, you may recall that we blogged about the plans that Eden Mill distillers had for a site in Princes Square?

Essentially, the Fife-based spirits company are opening a bar and kitchen called Jax plus a Blendworks gin school.

Jax was originally scheduled to open in late October and we don't know when the launch date has moved to.

However, according to their Facebook page, work on the Blendworks part of the operation is now 'all but finished' and they are taking bookings for the start of December onwards.

Guests will be invited to take a seat in the gin classroom for a double lesson in all things gin. After the history, theory and legends (leginds? A pun too far?) of the spirit, scholars will get hands-on with botanicals and create their own blend to take home.

The original Blendworks (main pic from Eden Mill Facebook) is at Macdonald Rusacks Hotel in St Andrews

Ciao Bibi

The buzzy Dimora on Ayr Road in Newton Mearns.

The buzzy Dimora on Ayr Road in Newton Mearns.

Moving from the city centre to south of the city, Bibi Aperitivo Bar launches this weekend.

An Italian-style aperitivo bar, Bibi sits above Dimora Italian restaurant on Ayr Road.

Bibi will be pouring cocktails, Prosecco, wines, gins, whiskies and beer alongside a selection of nibbles and canapés.

The bar will be open to both diners who want pre-dinner drinks and non-dining guests who simply want to chat to friends over a couple of glasses of wine.

Offering regional Italian cuisine, Dimora has proved popular with 5pm diners.

If you want to try it out, perhaps with a visit to Bibi before or after, then you can book in via 5pm Dining.

This Big Deal on a two course a la carte meal for two at Dimora is worth investigation.
