Unless you have been hiding under a rock in a dark cave which isn't marked on any map then you will know that gin in Scotland is booming.

By one estimate, there are now almost 70 distilleries making gin in Scotland. Or at least that was the figure when this article was written.

There may well be four or five more by now such is the rush to ride the gin wave.

The bubble will inevitably burst but, right now, our appetite for Scottish gin seems unquenchable.

If the sound of gin being poured over ice makes your pulse race then you may be interested in a Big Deal we have for a gin tasting at Rogue in St Andrews this weekend.

Sample a range of Scottish gins

This handpicked deal is for one person to enjoy a Scottish gin tasting experience on Saturday 2nd or Sunday 3rd March. The tasting will run 3pm until 5pm on the Saturday and 3pm until 6pm on the Sunday.

The offer includes a Rogue cooler cocktail on arrival followed by a guided tasting of three Scottish gins accompanied by a selection of tonics and garnishes.

You can buy the Big Deal here.

Smart restaurant, bar and gin distillery

Rogue in St Andrews.

Rogue in St Andrews.

Based on South Street, Rogue is a chic hangout close to both Blackfriars chapel and the University of St. Andrews.

Based in what used to be Drouthy Neebors pub, Rogue specialises in serving up steaks, seafood and cocktails, as well as distilling its very own brand of gin.

If you are tempted to stay on for a bite to eat after your tasting experience, Rogue's menus include tempting options such as smoked salmon, hand-dived scallops and 50-day dry-aged sirloin.

The 5pm blog had an excellent steak platter here as part of a Krug Champagne tasting that we blogged about.
