Friday night saw the launch party for the recently refurbished Auctioneers bar on Glasgow's North Court.

The city centre bar re-opened after an extensive refurbishment that includes new seating and a new look for the bar.

Weekend DJs, live music, a pub quiz and, of course, lots and lots of sport will help pull in the customers.

The food menu at The Auctioneers has also been overhauled and customers will not be short of choices.

As well as a main menu, there are separate menus for breakfast, lunch, kids and veggies/vegans.

The main menu offers a selection of tapas, sharing dishes, old faves, burgers, pizza, grills and steaks, salads, wraps and panini.

Oh, and puddings.

Classics and newbies

Of course, there are lots of classics in there from steak and Guinness pie to mac 'n' cheese.

There are also a number of surprises. Who would have thought that a pub grub menu would include smoked haddock fishcakes with a trendy chia crumb?

And the world has certainly changed when a pub menu includes a salad bowl which features, among other ingredients, BBQ roasted cauliflower, tossed wheatberries and spiralised carrot.

On a less virtuous tip, we like the idea of the Wings Roulette Sharer (main pic from Facebook). This comprises 48 wings, half of which are tossed in a smoky BBQ sauce while the other half are smothered in super hot chilli sauce.

Roll the dice...

New pizza joint for Govanhill

This weekend also saw the launch of Errol's Hot Pizza Shop in Govanhill.

The Victoria Road site was previously home to the Bungalow Café which had been there since 1949.

It is not a big, barn-like space. There are 20 covers and, according to Glasgow Live, they will be offering a selection of small plate dishes as well as pizzas.
