What's the most moving thing anyone has ever said to you?
'Fancy steak tonight?' never fails to tug on our heart strings.
The popular restaurant is renowned for its excellent steak and, for enthusiastic carnivores, the sight of big sides of beef ageing in their meat lockers always sharpens the appetite.
Dry-aged in-house, their superb steak is reared by the Brown family. They have supplied the restaurant from their Gaindykehead Farm near Airdrie ever since Porter & Rye opened in 2014.
You can see why Porter & Rye is such a big hit with steak fans with this Big Deal.
Sirloin steak and wine
The £49 Big Deal is for two people to each have a 10oz sirloin steak with a sauce and a side plus a glass of wine.
Popular sides include the truffle salt fries, black garlic mash and the utterly decadent bone marrow mac ‘n’ cheese.
Choose from a selection of sauces which includes peppercorn and brandy, red wine jus, Béarnaise and salsa verde.
The offer is available until the 30th of May and can be redeemed Monday to Thursday in March and Sunday to Friday in April and May.
Diners are welcome to pop in for lunch at any time between noon and 4pm or for an evening sitting at 6pm or 8pm.
Chic and hip restaurant
Excellent as it is, the steak is not the only attraction at Porter & Rye.
Intimate and flatteringly dimly lit, it has a stylish decor that is half old school Manhattan steak house and half post-industrial warehouse.
It is one of the chic and hip restaurants which have been responsible for Finnieston's burgeoning culinary reputation over the last few years.
Porter & Rye gets lots of great reviews on their 5pm Dining page. Variations on ‘best steak’, ‘wonderful steak’ and ‘fantastic steak’ crop up repeatedly.
And, if you have plans to catch a show at The Hydro over the next couple of months, Porter & Rye is very conveniently located for a pre-show bite.
