It is Friday and many of us will be planning on celebrating the end of the working week with a drink or two.

Thanks to innovations from two Scottish companies, we need not leave the house to enjoy a tipple.

In Glasgow's Southside, the brunch-to-bistro venue Kilmurry & Co has started to offer delivery of cocktail coolers.

It's one thing to consult a cocktail manual and shake up a Martini or Mojito but they never quite taste the same as when made by a well trained mixologist.

First world problems and all that but if you are going to have a drink then why not have a good one?

Help is at hand as, from today, Shawlands bistro and bar Kilmurry & Co will deliver a range of five cocktails.

All priced at £6.50 and served in cooler-style recyclable plastic cups with crushed ice, the drinks can be delivered to addresses within a three mile radius of the bistro's location on Kilmarnock Road.

The cocktails available include an Aperol Spritz, a Caipirinha, a Bramble and a Queen's Park Swizzle made with Brugal rum, mint and fresh lime.

Drink in the sunshine

Speaking of the cocktail coolers, Oli Rattray, head bartender at Kilmurry & Co, pictured above, said: 'I decided to create a range of drinks after a conversation with a guest one evening. They wanted the convenience of having a premium drink in the comfort of their own home. After crafting different recipes, I managed to develop five classic cocktail combinations that taste best in the sunshine.

'I’m really happy with the drinks, now all we need is the spring sunshine!'

Of course, if you would rather make a night of it and head out, Kilmurry & Co can be booked via 5pm.

Current offers when booking through 5pm include three oysters and a glass of Cava for £9.95 and £40 for a bottle of Cava and four small plates for two.

Moving over to the East Coast, The Old Curiosity Distillery has launched a gin club.

We have written about the distillery and their colour-changing gins a number of times before.

Most recently, we mentioned their Gin Garden tours which take place at their HQ at the foot of the Pentlands,

Their latest venture is a Gin Club which will give members the opportunity to sample a new and exclusive gin flavour every month.

At the beginning of each month, members will receive a special box which includes a unique, limited edition 20cl bottle of gin. Each gin will have been created especially for members and will be unavailable from retailers. The package will also contain the perfect mixer and a freshly-picked garnish plus discounts and invites to special events.

Seasonal tipple

Each monthly gin will have a unique, seasonal twist, such as a Spooky Black Mallow flavour for October and a festive, Christmas Spice for December.

Kicking off from April, the first Gin Club offering is Hot Pink Tulip – a dry gin infused with dark violet petals and just-flowered pink tulip. The gin also boasts stunning colour-changing properties, changing from a beautiful bright pink to an electric deep pink when tonic is added.

All of the herbs and botanicals within the gins are grown, hand-picked, dried and infused by the team at the Secret Herb Garden – the home of The Old Curiosity Distillery. They are all 100% natural; free of chemicals, sugars and flavour compounds.

Colour change

Hamish Martin, founder of The Old Curiosity, comments: 'Nowhere else in the world has a gin garden and distillery on site as we do here, so we’re taking full advantage of nature and the seasons in action, by continuously experimenting with our botanicals to create new, distinctive flavours and wonderful colour changes.

'We’re so excited to be able to launch a Gin Club, allowing gin fans to try these innovative flavours, as well as giving them exclusive access to a range of limited edition bottles and upcoming events. We can’t wait to meet all our new Club Members and hope everyone enjoys the first offering of the delightful Hot Pink Tulip as much as we do!'

Prices start from £20 per month and delivery is free for all club members. If that sounds the kind of club you would like to be a member of then you can sign up here.

Have a great weekend!
